K Days - Activities and Skills

Activity and Skills Sessions throughout the Day

Swimming at Paradise Lake

Day Campers have a designated swimming area at the residential site. A short walk through the woods takes the campers to a sandy beach area known as Pirates' Cove. Both the waterfront swimming area and Pirates' Cove are supervised by lifeguard qualified staff.

Prior to swimming, campers undergo a swim ability test, and some campers will wear a P.F.D. while in the water. Please see the health form to indicate your child's swim ability.

The canoeing program offers day campers an excellent opportunity to experience this exciting water activity in a comfortable and safe environment. Our lifeguard-qualifed instructors begin each canoeing session with basic water safety rules that include proper selection of a P.F.D. (Personal flotation device) and paddle. The camp supplies canoes, paddles and P.F.D.s, and all canoeists must wear a P.F.D. at all times during boating activities.

Arts and Crafts

Our creative and enthusiastic instructors will provide your child with many challenging and exciting craft opportunities.

Ropes Course and Climbing Wall

This program area offers an exciting challenge to our campers. Our qualified instructors begin each climbing session by teaching safety and the mechanics of the belay system, in order to ensure a safe climbing experience. Although we will always encourage campers to attempt to climb, we will never pressure or force a child who is clearly not comfortable.

A variety of sports is offered to campers throughout each week. These activities are selected and scheduled according to the age and abilities of each group of campers. No matter what the sport, there is always an emphasis on having fun and playing fair.

These activities provide an exciting learning adventure to campers who are interested in the wonders and workings of the natural world. Games, crafts, nature exploration and other activities will enhance understanding about and appreciation for the earth and all of its life.

Archery is a traditional camp favourite. Campers are taught about safety and the proper use of the equipment.

Outdoor Living Skills
We feel that no camping experience would be complete without giving the campers the opportunity to learn some outdoor living skills. Depending on age, campers will learn about fire building and cooking, various types of shelters and other outdoor survival skills.
