WAYS TO GIVE TO THE Y

As a nonprofit organization the impact we have on our community wouldn’t be possible without you. Because of the generosity of our volunteers, donors, advocates and community partners we are able ensure that no one gets left behind in the Waterloo Region.

TIME AND TALENT

At the Y volunteering is more than just sharing your time and passion. It's about giving back to the community where you work and live. Volunteers form the heart and soul of our organization and because of that we invest in our volunteers. With area specific training, personal feedback, and the opportunities to demonstrate leadership, we give our volunteers confidence that they can apply in other areas of their lives.

GIVE FOR TODAY

There are many ways to donate to the YMCAs of Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo, all which directly support the impact we make in our community. Choose from the options below of how to give to the Y today.

One-time Donations: Make a one-time gift that helps deliver critical support in real-time

Making a Commitment: Pledge your support for a pre-determined time period and provide a lifeline for the people and programs that move our work forward. Sustainable funding is critical to organizational strategy and planning.

Gifts of Securities: Donating a gift of securities is one of the most financially sound ways to support a charity. When you donate stocks, mutual funds, or other types of securities, you pay no capital gains tax while receiving a tax receipt for the full amount of the gift.

Corporate Giving: A corporate donation is a simple and efficient way to demonstrate how important the community in which you live and work is to your organization.

Employee Giving: You can direct part of your United Way donation to our Y. Please indicate your wishes on your pledge card by writing:

“I would like _____% of my donation to go to the YMCA of Kitchener-Waterloo or the YMCA of Cambridge.” Please also include our Registered Charity Number: (KW) 10757 2687 RR0001, or (CAM) 11930 7098 RR0001

Employer Matching Program

Many employers have matching gift programs that can double the impact of your donation to the Y. If your employer has the option, check in with your Human Resources department to learn how you can begin to make impact at the Y.

Sponsorships: The Y has a wide variety of sponsorships suited to all types of companies and organizations. Sponsorship opportunities include a wide variety of direct marketing benefits, designed to enable you to shine a light on your commitment to our community. For these opportunities, please connect with us directly.

OUR CURRENT URGENT NEEDS

Time: Our most urgent need for an individual’s time is to support our Employment and Settlement Services team. We are dedicated to connecting employers and proactive employees willing to provide on-the-job training, placements, job trials, job shadowing or mentorship.

Talent: Our most urgent need for an individual’s talent is the need for additional members of The Circle of Y Ambassadors. This group of advocates commit to carrying out three acts of kindness a year, with the intent to strengthen the Y’s position to respond to the needs of our community.

This could include:

1. Making a donation – Minimum donation of $500 a year with a two-year commitment

2. BYOF – Bring your own friends, inspire two or more people to donate to your Y

3. Making an important connection – Provide a warm introduction to one or more individuals or companies who share your vision of community and would potentially want to invest in the Y.
