Junior Lifeguard Club (8+ years) Registration Required

The Junior Lifeguard Club (JLC) is a place for kids to:

* Increase knowledge and skills related to lifeguarding and lifesaving

* Build confidence through friendly competition

* Be motivated to achieve new personal bests

* Improve physical fitness by increasing swimming and aquatic skills

* Build leadership and teamwork skills

* Make new friends

* Have FUN! 

JLC is a water-based program designed for kids 8 years and over who can swim at least 25m and tread water for 2 minutes. Friends and siblings can join together even if they are of different ages and abilities. Kids will experience what it is like to be a lifeguard in a safe, fun and controlled setting. Personal effort and success are recognized through participation in high activity challenges. Dry-land fun, community education projects, displays and demonstrations provide additional learning opportunities.

Lifeguard competitions allow JLC members the chance to showcase their lifesaving skills and knowledge.

Prerequisite: Minimum 8 years of age who can swim 25 meters and tread water for 2 minutes

When: Saturdays 2:00-3:00pm

 

Junior Triathalon (8+ years) Registration Required

The Junior Triathlon team is a place for kids to:

* Enjoy swimming, biking and running

* Increase physical fitness through regular sessions in the pool, on stationary bikes and on the track

* Build confidence through friendly competition

* Be motivated to attain new personal bests through goal setting and goal achievement.

* Train as a team building friendships and a team identity.

 Junior triathlon is for kids 8 years of age or older who can swim 25m and tread water for 2 minutes. Lifelong transferable skills such as physical fitness patterns and positive healthy lifestyles are established.

Prerequisite: Minimum 8 years of age who can swim 25 meters and tread water for 2 minutes

Level 1: Are you new to swimming, biking and running?  Come out and meet new friends while learning some new skills.  Get active, have fun and learn.

Ages 8-12

Saturdays - 2:00-4:00pm

Level 2: Do you need more of a challenge?  Join Jr. Triathlon level 2 where you will experience challenging drills, run longer distances and learn all about goal setting.

Ages 8-12

Saturdays  3:00-5:00pm

 

Swim Team (8+ years) Registration Required

YMCA Swim Team is a place for kids to:

* Improve skills

* Be motivated to achieve success by setting goals and achieving personal bests

* Practice stroke drills

* Improve technique in competitive strokes

* Build endurance and aerobic capacity through work sets and interval training

* Increase confidence by learning effective and efficient starts, turns and strokes

 

YMCA Swim Team is for those 8 years of age and older who can swim 25m and tread water for 2 minutes.

What do you need?

* Snug fitting swim shorts for males

* Athletic, one piece swim suit for females

* Water bottle (plastic)

* Swim goggles and swim cap are recommended

 Mini swim meets are provided for swimmers to showcase skills and reach personal best times. These meets will focus on friendly competition, teamwork and sportsmanship.
