Diabetes Fit-Exercise and healthy eating for better health

  • Diabetes Fit provides customized exercise instruction and education by certified YMCA instructors
  • For individuals at risk of diabetes or managing diabetes
  • Learn how to start and maintain a safe exercise program and the basics of healthy eating 
  • Learn how to set action plans that will help you reach your goals
  • Join others in a small, supportive group setting

The Diabetes Fit group meets twice a week for 1-hour sessions over 12 weeks. Exercise is based on personal health and fitness levels and individual goals.

 

SMGH Alumni: Fitness Centre Support

Mondays 2:30 pm -4:30 pm with Andrew

Tuesdays & Thursdays 8: 00 am-10:00 am, 1: 00 pm -3:00 pm with Meagan

Wednesdays 2:30 pm- 4:30 pm with Andrew

  • Connect with Heartwise trained YMCA staff each session
  • Support and supervision with exercise equipment
  • Blood pressure machine available for pre/post exercise checks

Wellness Walking Group: Keeping you healthy and moving.

Mondays: 12:00 -1:00 pm *Meet on the track

Just 10 minutes of walking can make you feel good; reduce your blood pressure and help with or reduce your risk of other chronic healthy conditions. 

Wellness participants or graduates looking to build exercise into your day while connecting with new people, friends and volunteers should come out and give the group a try.
