Youth Programs

Join a registered program for weeks of focus and fun. Small group programs for youth offer:

  • More attention for each participant thanks to lower staff ratios
  • Greater skill development with weekly progression
  • A huge smile and take-home project or final event at the end of the session

 

Specialty Programs (Spring 2019)

 

Level 2 Dance (4-6 years)

YMCA Members: $31.50

YMCA Non Members: $37.06

 *Pre-requisite:  Has taken dance before.  Must contact twlb.williams@gmail.com or michael.chien@ckw.ymca.ca for registration.

Monday 4:15-5:00pm

Session 1:  March 18th – April 29th (7 weeks)

Session 2:  May 6th – June 24th (7 weeks, no class Victoria Day)

To give participants a chance to learn a mix of different style:  Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop; to broaden their dance spectrum.  Strengthening their dance basic skills.

 

Art Frenzy (7-12 years)

YMCA Members: $31.50

YMCA Non Members: $37.06

Monday 4:30-5:15pm

March 18th – April 29th (7 weeks)

Each week get the chance to make a different to try a different art medium like painting, drawing, collage, or clay.

 

Canvas Painting (7-12 years)

YMCA Members: $31.50

YMCA Non Members: $37.06

Monday 4:30-5:15pm

May 6th – June 24th (7 weeks, no class Victoria Day)

Classes focus on stroke techniques and blending different colors together as they paint on canvases that will be showcased at the end of the term

Tuesday 4:15-5:00pm

Session 1:  March 19th – April 30th (7 weeks)

Drama Club (7-12 years)

Tuesday 7:15-8:00pm

Session 1:  March 19th – April 30th (7 weeks)

Session 2:  May 7th – June 25th (8 weeks)

Class offers the chance to perform in front of audience. Children will have the opportunity to write and present their play.

 

Youth Conditioning (10-12 years)

YMCA Members: $31.50

YMCA Non Members: $37.06

Wednesday 5:45-6:30pm

Session 1:  March 20th – May 1st (7 weeks)

Session 2:  May 8th – June 19th (7 weeks)

Class focuses on proper exercise technique and principles of training; they will receive a bodyweight fitness program. Program meets in Conditioning Centre.

 

Intro to Dance (4-6 years)

YMCA Members: $31.50  or $36

YMCA Non Members: $37.06 or $42.35

 

Thursday 4:15-5:00pm

Session 1:  March 21st – May 2nd (7 weeks)

Session 2:  May 9th – June 27th (8 weeks)

 

Saturday 9:00-9:45am

Session 1:  March 23rd – May 4th (7 weeks)

Session 2:  May 11th – June 29th (8 weeks)

To give participants a chance to learn a mix of Ballet and Jazz. The basics such as position, turns, jumps, and different type of movements will be the focus.  For dancers to learn their basic skills so they can continue to build on.

 

Yoga (7-12 years)

YMCA Members: $31.50 or $36

YMCA Non Members: $37.06 or $42.35

Thursday 5:00-5:45pm

Session 1:  March 21nd – May 2nd (7 weeks)

Session 2:  May 9th – June 27th (8 weeks)

A beginner’s yoga class focusing on proper alignment, balance, and strengthening.

 

 

Hip Hop (7-12 years)

YMCA Members: $31.50

YMCA Non Members: $37.06

Friday 5:00-5:45pm

Session 1:  March 22nd – May 10th (7 weeks, no class Good Friday)

Session 2:  May 17th – June 28th (7 weeks)

Learn the fundamentals of Hip Hop movement in these upbeat and high energy classes. Stretching, isolations, rhythms, musicality, upper body strength and funky footwork will all be incorporated.
